I may be moving this blog to someplace that I can block users. I don't like unpleasant surprises, like not being able to block pedos...didn't realize how little control blog authors had on this thing.
There's a reason that I put people on 'ignore' and it's not to play hard to get.

HAPPY RAPTURE, EVERYONE!!! ^_^
See? I can be supportive of other people's beliefs! ;p
What this post is really about is my frustration with the fact that suddenly Hawking, one of the most brilliant minds of our time, is on the shit list of every 'believer' just because of his beliefs. I don't believe in an afterlife, either. That's why I value the loved ones so much. That is why I grieve so whole-heartedly when one of my loved ones dies. I don't comfort myself with illusions to make life easier. I loved my cat, Jacques Cousteau, more than I have ever loved another animal. I still grieve for him on occasion because I am pretty secure in the knowledge that I will not be seeing him again. I have worn my Grandmother's ashes in the locket around my neck for the last few years in a vain, and silly, attempt to be close to what remains of who and what she was. I will not be with her again. She is not waiting to be reunited with me when I die.
Why isn't it okay for people to believe in nothingness? Strange that people who refuse to believe in illusions are the ones who are looked at as crazy in these supposedly 'enlightened' times. Opiate of the masses....I refuse their drug of choice.

Dollie Time!
Because school is almost over I've had a little time here and there to work on a few projects. My Puki Puki Pig came in yesterday. I need to get some putty for his eyes so that I can take some proper pix of him.
But for now, BOX OPENING!
The Box
I'm finally finishing up Tomoe. Her paint is coming along very nicely. I just need to seal it after a few final touches.
There's a weird....plug of hair that the menufacturer rooted into her forehead. I have no idea why, it's just weird. I was going to just keep it and keep that piece swept to the side, then I got The Cramps stuck in my head.
So, my Maureen O'Hara inspired doll is coming along nicely, but she will have a Rockabilly rather than just a Retro twist. I still need to repaint her, but I think that if I didn't have skill, she would still look nice with her original paint. Her hair is not done, by any means! I just have it kind of put in place for the time being until I can curl the ends so that they cascade around her shoulders.

| Here vee see zeh elusive 'Big-Mouthed Goth'. She is dumb and likes dolls. Keep your dolls out of reach of her mouz! |

When I was rooting Maureen I cam across a little problem.
Who needs Iggy Pop when we had Lux Interior(RIP) and Poison Ivy? Anyway, with those songs and similar running through my mind I was hit with a bolt of inspiration(that's my story and I'm sticking to it)! If I did Maureen's hair in a Rockabilly style(with the Bride of Frankenstein stripe) I could stille give her retro/vintage looks, but also some wilder styles. So I commenced with the rooting after mapping it out as above.

| Horrible lighting is horrible! ;p |
So there are my dolls that I've been playing with lately. And you can see why I need to buy a better camera, 3.2 MP is just not enough! Plus, I need more lights and maybe a lightbox, as well. I just found a place that sells a decent sized one for only $40.
School Daze!
So, school has been going well. I'm making A's in all of my classes. It's not that hard when you pay attention in class and do your work! We'll see how easy it is in the more advanced Math, English and Science classes. ;p Next week are my finals. I'm actually not worried, but lot of my classmates are. The 'Big Stupid Research Paper' that I was a little worried over in English truned out great! My Psych teacher even offered to write me a letter of recommendation if I ever needed one for any reason. I thought that was pretty cool.
We're a little worried because my daughter goes to a different school than my son next year. I try not to view things like that with too much trepidation, but when it's your kids how can you not worry? My husband got his smoker and you would think that eating a ton of B-B-Q would lead to serious weight gain, but nope. I guess it's true that you can eat mostly meat and still lose weight. Now that he's got a hobby too he can't really bitch that much about money that gets spent on my dollies. ^_^

Dolly Catch Up!!! And other stuff...
Man...I almost feel BAD for the post I'm about to make because it's the middle of February and Xmas is still going on! And it's not done yet! It does, indeed, feel awkward knowing that we are becoming some of the 'haves' after being 'have nots' for most of my life. No longer do I have to pass up awesome new things(like that sweeeet new bow & arrow set from X-toys) because of a budget that lets us barely scrape by on a good month. I am overjoyed! Not just for the materialistic, but the kids are doing so awesome in school and my relationship with the Hubz just seems to get better each year. To say that life is good would be a gross understatement. Anyway, on to the dolls:
Got almost all of the Monster High Dolls from the original series.
Plus a couple for my daughter(the Dawn of the Dance 'Clawdeen' and the Frankie Stein sitting down in front). And check this out, the little 'icoffin' phone from the green-haired Clawdeen:
A body for my Xena doll.
Xmas haul so far. I forgot to put my new pastels(they are FABU! I patch tested them(koh-i-noor extra soft pastels) on my Unoa yesterday.) and paints in the pic, but oh well!
I'm gonna have to get a stand for Shaak. She balances fine in some poses, in others...not so much. You can clearly see her leaning against the door here.
My Puki Pig has yet to arrive along with the big ornate buttons for my winter coat(hey, it's not over yet!) and the boatload of toyokalon hair I bought from Doctored Locks. Got the nifty bow from Xtoys, a perfect body redhead HS to make my Maureen O'Hara custom, just ordered the Triad Pissed-off Brunette HS for my Tura Satana custom. So sad, but Tura was literally as bad ass in real life as she was in 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!' Such a fun movie. I also got a few odds & ends from Storerooms. They have this tiny knife that looks almost exactly like the Gerber Easy-Out I used to carry(it's even serrated).
School's turning out to be kinda fun. I honestly didn't expect it to be. I really like my English Composition class, Psych is interesting and I'm doing surprisingly well in Math! Math is a subject I've always loathed. But I have a solid grasp on what we are learning and it doesn't seem so scary.
I think I missed a test in Psych today. Our best man's father died and they had the funeral today(on our 8th anniversary, woo-freakin-hoo, depressing much?). Poor guy. He's a nice guy, but he always hooks up with psycho-hosebeasts somehow. *shakes head*
Yeah, life is awesome despite a few sad instances.

And finally....Shaak has feet!

YAY FOR THE *w00t-ness*
I am dropping weight like mad, lately. I'm not even doing anything differently so I guess I've finally edged over that plateau. Stupid plateaus. :-p Normally, I wouldn't pay so much attention to what size I'm into, but I've been over a 10 for far too long(I mean a 'real' 10, not the vanity sizing places like Walmart do where they stick a size 10 tag in a size 14). Push ups are paying off in more than just bat wing reduction. ;)

Pain
I was going to post something meaningful, but all I can feel is pain that a dear friend of mine has lost someone they love. :( Why do the Holidays never cease to bring pain with them?
